Eura Heart
A small heart can conceal thousands of stories. It is an oath to love and friendship. The message of a heart is eternal and universally understood. This heart is based on the model of a Viking Era heart found in Pappilanmäki, Eura, in Southwestern Finland.

Filigree
In the 18th century, Finland was part of the Kingdom of Sweden. New ideas and styles arrived from the prosperous mother country first to the coastal towns of western Finland. Country people interpreted the fashions and ornaments of prosperous town gentlefolk in their own rural ways. The golden ring with its elaborate filigree ornaments, which inspired the jewelry in the Filigree series, originated in Sweden.

Originals series
Halikko
In times of unrest, the bosom of the earth has provided shelter for the most precious treasures. Long ago, at the time of Finland’s conversion to Christianity, someone buried a silver treasure in the ground to keep it safe. The treasure included a necklace of finely ornamented silver beads. The owner never returned to retrieve the treasure. Whether it was hidden by a priest who wanted to protect the valuables from pagan Finns, or maybe by church robbers wanting to hide their booty, no one knows. In any case, the buried treasure speaks of the unrest and troubled times at the start of a new era in Finland. In 1887, the treasure was finally found in a field in the village of Joensuu in Halikko, Southwestern Finland, during spring ploughing. The most beautiful beads from the original necklace have been selected for the Halikko jewelry series.

Originals series
Snake Ring
An oath to power and courage. Snakes were believed to be immortal because they shed their skin. Featured in jewelry, the snake symbolised success and the course of life. A snake ring also symbolised power and courage. This ring is based on the model of a ring, found in Vesilahti in the Pirkanmaa region, dating back to the later age of tribal migrations (7th century AD). The spiral has cross-stitch ornamentation and easily recognisable snake-shaped motifs at both ends.

Originals series
Bear
In ancient Finnish mythology, the bear was said to be the son of Hongatar, the mother of woodlands, who had given birth to him “up in the heavens, on the shoulders of the Plough”. The bear was treated with great respect and fear, as it was half human and half a forest being, after all. And that is why he who bore the sign of the bear, held sway over both people and nature.

Originals series
Ring from Karjaa
The age of tribal migrations, 400-600 AD, was the period when independent culture was formed in the peninsula of Finland. This ring, based on the original model found in Karjaa in western Finland, charms with simple beauty. The ring is wider at the centre and has spiral ornamentation along the edges.

Originals series
Lily of the Valley
An oath to the beauty of nature. Throughout the ages, the delicate beauty of plants has been interpreted in jewelry, sometimes naturally, sometimes through mere references only. The Lily of the Valley jewelry is inspired by Finland’s national flower.
In spring, the bell-shaped white flowers are borne in sprays on the slender stems in green groves. The delicate fragrance stirs anticipation of the approaching summer. Charming beauty and liveliness makes lilies of the valley like jewelry designed by nature. And they are most beautiful in the forest, as the grandmother of goldsmith Tony Granholm, who designed the Lily of the Valley jewelry, used to say.

Originals series
Moon Goddess
Moon Goddess, fair maiden, ruler of the night sky. Moon Goddess spins golden yarn, holding the spirals of eternal life in her arms. With her tinkling charms, like the golden rays of the moon, she casts away evil thoughts and lights up the world and the mind.
Moon Goddess, the best-known Kalevala Classic was inspired by the most beautiful details and ornaments of Viking Age jewelry. Moon Goddess, named after the Kalevala, was designed by Germund Paaer in the 1940s.

Child Charm
The birth of a child, the beginning of a new life. It rocks our world and blows our minds. Mothers and grandmothers, aunts and godparents will want to commemorate the joyful miracle of birth. The Child Charm with its glittering jewels says it all in an ancient global language.
The Child Charm is modelled after a tiny barrel-shaped charm included in the set of jewelry of the Ancient Karelian dress, recreated on the basis of Iron Age finds.

Originals series
Maiden of the North
In the Kalevala, the Finnish national epos, the Maiden of the North was a force to be reckoned with: strong, cunning, wise and skilled in all sorts of magic and charms. She could use those charms to lure any man she wanted to, but also to make women laugh, the winds blow and the sea howl.
These Maiden of the North pieces have been inspired by this legendary mythological woman and our ancestors’ intricate jewelry, buckles and knife handles. The Maiden of the North commanded respect and worked her magic with striking, precious pieces, and it is this spirit of the Kalevala that entrances us to this day.

Originals series
Birds of Paradise
Long ago, in the Finnish province now known as Häme, a powerful woman wore multi-strand bronze chains. The chains linked two plates, shaped like church vaults, on which two peacocks guarded the basin of the elixir of life. We do not know what the symbol of paradise in early Christian art, immortalised in the piece of jewelry, signified for the wearer. Maybe the long-necked birds brought her luck. Maybe they were messengers between people and gods. Maybe something else known to her only. One thing is certain, she believed that the jewelry had hidden power. That power is still there. Paradise jewelry is modelled on an ancient piece – the “Häme festive necklace” – dating back to around 800 AD and found in Kernaala, Janakkala.

Ring from Perniö
Find something you lost a thousand years ago.
This ring brings a message from the era of the Crusades, a time when similar wide shield-like rings were worn throughout the Baltic region. The ring, found in Perniö in Southwestern Finland, bears evidence of close interaction between ancient Finns and their neighboring peoples. Village blacksmiths interpreted foreign influences in original ways, and the beauty of their creations, full of primitive strength, still speaks to us.

Jewelry from Petsamo
Trade has always carried on, everywhere. Thousands of years ago, new phenomena, styles and goods, created in cultural centres, spread with traders far and wide from their origins. In the northernmost regions of Europe, Skolt Sámi women were among the first to wear earrings. In centuries past, they wore earrings decorated with brightly coloured glass and silver beads, which they bought from traders coming from the east. This piece is based on the model of jewelry originating in the Suonikylä village in Petsamo, Lapland. The form and structure of this jewelry originate in the Byzantine Empire, the first centuries AD.

Heart Ring
The silvery twinkle of a little charm. It calms you down, brings you joy, dispels evil spirits and thoughts. It is the voice of our ancestors from generations ago. It is the voice of the heart. The design of the Heart Ring originates in Kihniö in western Finland, the birthplace of artist Germund Paaer, who created this piece of jewelry.

Originals series
Heart of the House
The Heart of the House is an oath of love, a reminder that jewelry has been given and worn for the same reasons from one millennium to the next. The piece is also a nod to the rich ornamentation and timeless beauty of ancient Finnish jewelry.

Originals series
Thor's Hammer
Thor was the Viking god of thunder who used his hammer as a tool of rule and justice. When it thundered, people believed that Thor was riding across the vault of heaven in his carriage pulled by goats. The blows of his hammer created the peals of thunder and lightning came from the sparks of the hammer. The pendant depicting a hammer became known as the symbol for Thor, which was believed to protect its carrier from evil. This pendant is based on the model of a Viking Era pendant found in Laitila, Southwestern Finland.

Vilho
an oath to yesterday, an oath to tomorrow. Symbols and the longing for beauty were born hand in hand with humanity. People have used jewelry throughout the ages to show who they are, where they come from, where they belong and what they believe in. In ancient times, jewelry was sometimes left with the deceased to take along on their journey to the afterworld. Kalevala Originals jewelry brings ancient heritage alive – we can wear the same jewelry for the same reasons as our ancestors, generations ago. The beauty of jewelry never fades.

Fountain
“By the Fountain” (Lähteellä) is one of the best-loved poems of Johan Ludvig Runeberg (1804–1877), the national poet of Finland. Its delicate imagery of Finnish nature in its summer splendour has also been set to music: “Oh fountain lovely, near thy side, into thy depths I gaze, as clouds above cast shadowy forms across thy limpid face.”
Runeberg’s verse inspired designer Kirsti Doukas, who created the jewelry series in honour of the poet’s 200th anniversary. The Fountain jewelry features a light blue topaz that glitters and shimmers like moonbeams reflecting from a clear spring.

Snow Crystal
On a frosty night, it cascaded lightly through the sky with thousands of friends. In the blue-grey gloom of the morning, it crunched happily underfoot, only to soften in the afternoon and later join the snowball whooshing through the air. Finally, in the spring, it melted into the murmuring brook. Snow crystal. A piece of jewellery moulded by nature, like flowers made of ice, drawn by the frost on the porch windowpane. Snow crystal expresses the delicate softness of the first snow and the glimmering play of light on its surface.

On 1 June 1906, the Finnish Estates passed a new Parliament Act and Election Act. On that day, Finland, which was still a Grand Duchy of the Russian Empire, established the world's most modern parliament. Universal and equal suffrage came true. The Dream jewelry collection celebrates the centennial of equality pioneers. The festive theme inspired Kirsti Doukas to combine delicate and sprightly elements into a strong form. Dream tells the story of individual courage, which, when brought together, can change the world.

Twinflower
Twinflower, Linnaea borealis, is the delicate flower of lush spruce forests. The slender plant hugs the velvet moss, pushing up stems, one after another, bearing pairs of gentle bell-like flowers. The timid twinflower is the shy beauty of the Finnish forest.
The beloved poem ‘Nocturne’ by Eino Leino (1878-1926), one of Finland’s most notable writers, whispers the timeless message of summer nights in Finland, describing the scent of twinflower and shadows of water, elements of the heart’s song.
These lines by young Eino Leino inspired jewellery designer Kirsti Doukas, and the pearls in her Twinflower jewelry capture the essential charm of the delicate twinflower.

Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström is the internationally best-known Finnish jewelry designer. The sculpturesque jewelry designed by Weckström in the 1960s signified a revolution in the still highly conservative world of jewelry, and made him famous worldwide. Many pieces of silver jewelry designed by Björn Weckström are inspired by the cold beauty of winter in the North. In the jewelry, he immortalised the evolving sculpturesque windblown forms in snow, while the dialogue of crystal clear and soft shimmering matte silver evokes images of pure frosty snow and ice shimmering in sunlight on a winter day. The Apache necklace got its name from native North American tribes.

Tango
The jewelry design of sculptor and ceramic artist Zoltan Popovits is inspired by indigenous peoples’ approach to wearing jewelry, in which a close bond exists between the jewelry and its wearer. Jewelry connects its wearer to a specific time, place and people. Many pieces designed by Popovits are inspired and named after indigenous peoples and mythologies from around the world, but also by natural phenomena and contemporary culture. In the Tango necklace, Zoltan Popovits has captured the sensuous rhythm of the tango and the perfect harmony in the steps of a pair immersed in the passionate whirl of the dance.

Tenochtitlan
Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström is the internationally best-known Finnish jewelry designer. In the early 1960s, he created a series of gold jewelry inspired by gold nuggets from Finnish Lapland. The uneven soft glow of matte gold jewelry made them like miniature sculptures created by Nature itself. The jewelry signified a revolution in the still highly conservative world of jewelry, and made Björn Weckström famous worldwide. Organic, sculpturesque designs and the warm glow of matte gold became a signature feature for gold jewelry designed by Weckström. The Tenochtitlan collection was named after the ancient capital city of the Aztec empire in the valley of Mexico.

Volans
Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström is the internationally best-known Finnish jewelry designer. In 1969, the first walk on the moon by man inspired him to create the sculpturesque Space Silver collection. The names of the pieces refer to the universe and sci-fi, but in the name of the collection itself, ‘space’ refers not only to the sky and space to be conquered, but also to the space and landscapes on Earth – the endless open, treeless tundra in northernmost Lapland and the snowy expanses continuing as far as the eye can reach and beyond, with snow shaped into constantly changing sculpturesque forms by the wind. Many pieces in the Space Silver collection also feature tiny human figures traversing the landscape. Volans is a small constellation in the southern sky.

Winter Pearl
The Winter Pearl collection, designed by Mari Isopahkala, immortalises in silver that fleeting magical moment on an autumn dawn when the night frost releases its grip, and the first rays of the morning sun melt the rime into little droplets on the leaves and grass. Winter Pearl is based on Isopahkala’s unique design which won the international Next Episode jewelry design contest held by Lapponia Jewelry to highlight its 50th anniversary in 2009.
