Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström is the internationally best-known Finnish jewelry designer. The sculpturesque jewelry designed by Weckström in the 1960s signified a revolution in the still highly conservative world of jewelry, and made him famous worldwide. Many pieces of silver jewelry designed by Björn Weckström are inspired by the cold beauty of winter in the North. In the jewelry, he immortalised the evolving sculpturesque windblown forms in snow, while the dialogue of crystal clear and soft shimmering matte silver evokes images of pure frosty snow and ice shimmering in sunlight on a winter day. A cataract is a waterfall.

Cataract – veden kuohunta ja talven kauneus hopeassa

Cataract-rannekorun nimi viittaa vesiputoukseen, ja korun veistoksellisella pinnalla voi nähdä veden kuohunnan liikkeitä — jäätyneen hetken, joka on samalla täynnä energiaa. Peilikirkkaan ja himmeän mattapintaisen hopean vuoropuhelu tuo mieleen pakkaslumen ja talviauringossa välkehtivän jään.

Osa ikonista Avaruushopea-kokoelmaa

Cataract on osa Björn Weckströmin legendaarista Avaruushopea-kokoelmaa, joka syntyi vuonna 1969 Neil Armstrongin kuukävelyn innoittamana. Kokoelman tunnetuimmat korut — Planetaariset laaksot -kaulakoru ja Darinan koru -rannekoru — nousivat maailmanmaineeseen Tähtien sota -elokuvassa. Cataract jakaa saman veistoksellisen DNA:n: rohkean muotokielen, pohjoisen luonnon voiman ja hopean ajattoman kauneuden.
