Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström is Finland’s most famous jewelry designer internationally. In the early 1960s, he created a series of gold jewelry inspired by gold nuggets from Finnish Lapland. The uneven soft glow of matte gold jewelry made them like miniature sculptures created by Nature itself. The jewelry signified a revolution in the still highly conservative world of jewelry, and made Björn Weckström famous worldwide. Organic, sculpturesque designs and the warm glow of matte gold became a signature feature for gold jewelry designed by Weckström. The name of the Thai collection takes you from the rough wilderness of Lapland to the soft warmth of the tropics. The small diamonds set in the jewelry sparkle like crystal clear sea water.

Thai-korut – timantit ja mattakulta Weckströmin käsissä

Björn Weckström tunnetaan rohkeasta, veistoksellisesta muotoilustaan — ja Thai-kokoelmassa hän vie sen uudelle tasolle. Kultaan istutetut timantit tuovat koruihin herkkyyttä ja valoa, kaunis kontrasti mattapinnan lämpimän hohteen kanssa. Nimi Thai kuljettaa ajatukset kauas pohjoisesta, mutta korujen sielu on kiistattomasti Weckströmin — orgaaninen, rohkea ja käsityönä viimeistelty.

Thai-korujen muotokieli juontaa juurensa 1960-luvulle, jolloin Weckström alkoi luoda kultakoruja Lapin kultahippujen innoittamana. Nuo rosoiset, luonnon muovaamat pienoisveistokset mullistivat korumaailman — ja Thai jatkaa tätä perintöä timanttien lisäämällä hehkulla. Jokainen koru on taideteos, joka sopii yhtä hyvin arkeen kuin juhlaan.
