CFCL | Kalevala at Paris Fashion Week

A dialogue between clothing and jewelry

Japanese fashion brand CFCL and Finnish design house Kalevala Jewelry present a collaboration collection, unveiled as part of CFCL’s Spring/Summer 2027 fashion show during Paris Fashion Week on 6 October 2026. The collection brings together two design practices connected by a shared appreciation for sculptural form, timelessness, and craftsmanship. While working in different disciplines, both CFCL and Kalevala create objects designed to withstand time and use, becoming part of everyday life and life’s important moments.

CFCL stands for “Clothing For Contemporary Life” and is a Japanese fashion brand dedicated to creating timeless clothing for contemporary life. Centered around 3D computer-aided knitwear technology, the brand emphasizes functionality, environmental consciousness, thoughtful material selection, and supply chain transparency. Through an experimental and innovative approach, CFCL continues to explore what clothing for contemporary life can be while creating products for people living today.

Founded in 1937, Kalevala Jewelry is a Finnish design house known for its sculptural jewelry and craftsmanship. All Kalevala jewelry is handcrafted at the company’s own factory in Helsinki, where traditional Finnish craftsmanship, modern technology, and contemporary design come together. As Kalevala approaches its 90th anniversary in 2027, this collaboration looks both to the brand’s heritage and to its future. The collection will be introduced to consumers during that milestone year, marking a meaningful moment in the design house’s journey.

The collaboration is rooted in a shared belief in creating objects that accompany people in their everyday lives and contribute to a better society. The collection name “Laine” means “wave,” evoking a connection to nature shared by Japan and Finland, while resonating with CFCL’s POTTERY series. At the centre of the collaboration is a sculptural brooch, designed especially to be worn with knitwear. The Paris fashion show featured a one-of-a-kind CFCL | Kalevala Laine wearable sculpture. The collection also includes an ear cuff, earrings, necklaces, and ring.

All the pieces are cast in silver and incorporate the minimal, organic forms found in Finnish modernism, embodying a sense of harmony that crosses the boundaries between architecture, products, clothing, and jewelry.

The collection also reflects values shared by both brands: a commitment to quality, longevity, and responsible production. Both CFCL and Kalevala are united by an uncompromising commitment to high-quality manufacturing in their home countries, as well as a shared interest in sustainability and creating products with lasting value. Both brands create products intended to endure beyond seasons, designed to be worn, lived with, and passed on.

Presented within CFCL’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, the collaboration marks the beginning of a creative dialogue between Japanese fashion and Finnish jewelry design. Rooted in craftsmanship and shaped by a shared belief in timeless design, the CFCL | Kalevala Laine collection explores what can emerge when two distinct design traditions meet.
