Iku-Turso

Iku-Turso, son of Old-age, dweller of depths. Guardian of his realm, keeper of wisdom, knows a thousand stories, hidden below the surface.

In the Finnish national epic Kalevala, Väinämöinen cursed Iku-Turso, the ocean monster, to remain in the depths of the waves for eternity. The monster dived in and has never been seen since. The bracelet, named after a mythical creature of Kalevala, was designed by artist Germund Paaer in the 1940s. He was inspired by clasps depicting intertwined snakes, dating back to the later age of tribal migrations.
