The coast
Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström is Finland's most internationally known jewelry designer. In the early 1960s, he created a series of gold jewelry that was inspired by Lapland's gold nuggets. The jagged, dimly matte gold jewelry was like miniature sculptures molded by nature. The jewelry was revolutionary in the still very conservative jewelry world at the time and catapulted Björn Weckström to international fame. Organic, sculptural forms and the warm glow of matte gold became a characteristic feature of the gold jewelry designed by Weckström. Rannio marks a groove trampled by reindeer in the snowdrift.
