Crafted in 14-karat gold, the earrings are inspired by the Himmeli pendant designed by Paula Häiväoja in the 1960s. Height 10 mm, width 9 mm. The earrings are not mirror images of each other. Stud fastening.

Fashion artist Paula Häiväoja (1929–2011) was the Head of Design at Kalevala Koru from 1963 to 1967. As the company approaches its 90th anniversary, Kalevala Koru honors the design legacy of its first female Head of Design by introducing jewelry inspired by Häiväoja’s futuristic jewelry art of the 1960s. The items are stamped with the anniversary year logo.

he new Himmeli* collection draws inspiration from Paula Häiväoja's iconic Himmeli necklace, designed in the 1960s. Häiväoja's futuristic, geometric design language was exceptionally bold for its time - and looks just as relevant today as it did over half a century ago.

In Kalevala Jewelry’s 90th anniversary year, Häiväoja’s avant-garde design finds new life in pieces where the swing of the form becomes an extension of the wearer’s movement. Made to order by our goldsmiths in Helsinki using 100% recycled gold — each limited to just 90 numbered pieces. The anniversary hallmark on each piece marks a singular moment - 90 years of women's stories, Finnish craftsmanship, and a celebration of design.

*Himmeli means a traditional Finnish straw ornament.

Care instructions Gold jewelry

Kalevala gold jewelry are made from either 18 or 14 carat yellow or white gold. We use 100% recycled gold. A mild soap wash is enough to care for gold jewelry. If necessary, gold jewelry can also be cleaned with a gold cleaning agent, which is sold in goldsmith shops. Although gold does not darken much, it is a relatively soft metal alloy, and jewelry made of it can wear out with use.
